Your main endowments, characteristics, and qualities

Open-minded, tolerant, poor emotional response (rarely cry), intelligent but poor memory and organization, creative problem solver, skilled carpenter, electrician, plumber, handyman, reasonable computer programmer, talented and patient computer support person, emergency medical technician but not employed as such, good teacher (except to my wife and kids; I'm too impatient with them), slightly flirtatious, but it's always intended to make other person feel good, very large vocabulary, reasonably good communicator (except with my wife and kids, go figure), lousy speller, trustworthy but not above a bit of scheming or conniving to get the job done, environmentalist, quiet and a bit shy, good personal hygiene but messy surroundings, terrified of bees but don't really mind once I am stung (I mean, it is just pain...), strong stomach (not fazed by sight of blood, at least someone else's), fascinated by the world and everything around me, I want to understand how everything works

I am considered by most to be honest probably too straightforward, reliable and people come to me often for help with things and advice (usually advice they don't want to hear). I can be very judgmental and think that most people don't do the right things especially people concerning their children. I am unfledgingly loyal, a good wife, a protective mother and would go to the mat for anyone that I care about. Unfortunately, they tend to be few and far between. I have been manipulative in my youth and lived very angry teenage years. I love life, my husband, my children (both biological and step children), and consider myself one of the lucky few who has truly found a soul mate I don't believe in jealousy or flesh trophies. I'm hoping that our kids will also find happiness in everything they want. I do tend to spend time with only a few select people. I seem to feel bad energy intensely and it can tend to consume me if I am not careful. I am trying to find forgiveness and more compassion for those less fortunate than I, but I must admit I probably still have a lot of work to do on that. Most people do think I am lucky, I have been blessed but I also work hard for the things I have, which I am more than willing to share with anyone who I feel could use the help. Portably my worst trait is that I can be a terrible procrastinator and I prefer to do things when I want to do them

I am warm and caring person to the people close to me, but I think it is difficult to get close to me. I am extremely loyal but can get very angry if people do not return my loyalty. I think I am very critical and sometimes too honest. - I have lost many friendships in big arguments, maybe because I take things too personally or think too much about things that I should just forget or let go of. My good sides are that I am very sweet, loving and funny when I am with good friends, and I am intelligent. I am very good at languages and I know a lot of languages. I study Arabic now. A funny thing is that I have never been in love with anyone from my own country (Denmark) or any north-western European type for that matter. I am a little exotic in my tastes. I also like to study other religions. I am shy, but I am stubborn and I like to win. I never get bored in my own company, which is something that has made me feel a bit strange or different at times, because I have discovered that other people might find it strange. I can spend hours by myself, and I have even been on vacations and travels by myself. I consider myself a very lucky person in terms of what life has brought me. I have had my share of angry years as a teenager and in my twenties. I love my boyfriend passionately and I am so happy to have found someone like him. Before I met him, I thought I would never find anyone I could be happy with. It used to be very difficult and I have had some very traumatic experiences with love

The work you have done for a living, and your interests and hobbies

I have a physics degree but don't do physics. Primary career was computer support (hardware and software). I was laid off in December 2001. Now I'm a dental assistant student, looking at doing chair-side assisting in oral surgery or periodontics, as well as dental instrument servicing. I also have strong interest in combining knowledge and doing computer consulting for dental and medical clinics or writing books on integrating computer technology into modern dental practice.

My wife and I teach downhill skiing as a hobby

Work: I currently work with my husband's construction company. I previously worked managing a nightclub. I have also studied law and criminology.

Interests: my main interests growing up were anything having to do with things athletic, but now I enjoy writing

I have worked in Rome, Italy as a shop assistant. I work now as an RN [?] and as a freelance writer.

Interests: comparative literature and languages

Your favourite colours, clothes, and type of shoes

I prefer pure primary colors, mostly blue. I'm most comfortable wearing jeans or shorts and a T-shirt or sweatshirt. I like wearing medical scrubs too. Maroon and purple are my favorite colors for that clothing. I tend to dress casually. I'm uncomfortable when I need to be formal. I avoid labels unless it comes from a thrift store like St. Vincent de Paul, Goodwill, or Oxfam

Favorite colors: black and pink.

Clothes and shoes: as far as wearing clothes, during the day I am usually in sweat shirts or jeans and T-shirts and tennis shoes. When going out I always wear black, usually some type of silk shirt, with a camisole underneath, also in black. Black jeans and high-heel black boots. Probably the footwear I couldn't live without is high-heel black boots. I have a closet filled with nice black clothing, and jeans and T-shirts

Favorite color: pale rosa. Is it called that in English? or light pink?.

Clothes and shoes: I like to dress in a feminine manner. I am most comfortable wearing dresses or athletic outfits. I like wearing black, mostly with one or two bright colored accessories. I don't think too much about clothes, but I like to look good. I don't like shopping though. I usually find something that I like and then keep wearing it and find something similar when I need something new. I have a pair of high-heeled black "witch-shoes" that are my favorites. I also like to wear no shoes at all

What kind of art, books, magazines, music, and movies are to your taste?

Figure drawing and painting.

Books: science fiction (if I ever had time to read it), Maeve Binchy.

Magazines: trade journals like The Journal of Emergency Medicine, or numerous PC related magazines.

Music: Alternative, modern, classical, classic rock, some country (not twang), some heavy metal, some jazz. Favorite music is by Tool, Tori Amos, Peter Gabriel, Dar Williams, Annie Lennox, Icehouse, Pink Floyd, Seal, Sinead O'Connor, Depeche Mode, Evanescence, Dead Can Dance, Enya, Tom Lehrer, XTC, Yes, Beethoven (esp. 9th symphony and "Ode to Joy"), Edvard Grieg, Aaron Copeland. Still love older material like Yes, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Rush, Billy Joel, Tears for Fears, etc.

Movies: again, sci-fi, Star Wars (except the last couple), Star Trek, The Matrix, etc., but also like some "Chick Flicks" like Thelma and Louise, My Dog Skip, etc.

Art: I like art, but I don't particularly love it. I enjoy things like black and white photography or people, or things some would consider erotic in nature or even dark.

Books: I love reading, and usually read horror novels, medical mysteries, true stories pertaining to serial killers, or deception involving family backgrounds.

Music: I listen mostly to country music, but I also love music from the 1980s. I like some rock-and-roll, but absolutely hate techno music.

Movies: Except for cartoons and animations, I love all movies

Art: I love art, mostly modern art. Something provocative that makes me think in new ways. I like photographs and symbolic art, and there is a Danish artist called Kristian Hornsleth that I enjoy very much.

Books: I read a lot. I love crime novels or anything smart where there a mysteries and intelligent surprises.

Movies: I see many movies because I write about movies for a magazine. My favorites are romantic comedies and sci-fi.

Music: I like country music and pop. Not rock and not techno

Additional comments made by Scott, born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, on this day in 1965...

Boy, I'm not sure what I didn't cover above. I could list bands and composers all night that move me. I have poor emotional response, which is what cost me my first marriage. It didn't matter what she did (including having an affair), I just could not respond to it. For a decade I barely had any feelings.

Thanks to a wickedly fantastic six-week relationship I had with a housemate in Madison, WI, I started to feel pain (emotional) again. She somehow poked out the clinkers (burned out coals) that were plugging up my emotional fire. Once I started processing the pain of our break-up, the rest from all my other relationships finally came out. I had one miserable month, but it was SO WONDERFUL at the same time. I felt alive again.

Since then, with some counselling and medication, I have what is close to a normal emotional response pattern. Closely coupled to that was a learning disability that plagued me through high school and college (8 years to get my BS with a marginal GPA). I am once again in school in a difficult field but have a straight A average.

I still don't cry much. Even when my mother died unexpectedly last year, I didn't cry. Some songs will make me though. Sinead O'Connor's "Three Babies" gets me every time. I just discovered "How Can I Help You Say GoodBye" by Patty Lovelace a couple days ago. That just about floored me. I've cried from a few films, but for the life of me I cannot remember which ones.

I thought of a few other bits of trivia about myself. I hate commercials. I rarely listen to commercial radio but prefer NPR and the BBC overnight. I am a social liberal and fiscal conservative. I like Michael Moore but think he goes over the deep end sometimes. His "TV Nation" series was very interesting and fun to watch.

I watch very little television because I easily get sucked into whatever drivel is on, so I just don't turn it on much. Unfortunately my son likes Sesame Street and Teletubbies and even they hypnotize me if I'm not careful.

There are some shows that I really like though. "Who's Line is it Anyway" (British and American versions), The Daily Show on Comedy Central, Nova, Frontline, a bunch of stuff on The Learning Channel, The History Channel, and HGTV (Home and Garden). I would not bother with cable TV if I could get those three without it.

George W Bush and Dick Chaney scare the daylights out of me.

I am (or at least try to be) a very spiritual person, though I don't believe in a personified god or subscribe to any religious dogma. I find a great deal of wisdom and moral guidance from Christianity, Judaism, and Hinduism, but don't accept the need of a "personal saviour". If god had intended us to know certain things, I believe that knowledge would be directly revealed to all of us, not just a select few.

I firmly believe that we can be good, just, and moral without involving a deity. If some people need that framework, that is fine. Just don't try to bolt me to the same framework.

My favorite type of food is northern Indian. Thai is second, and Italian is third. "American cuisine" is blah (almost as bad as British). ;-)

So much for thinking I had nothing to add...
